Mr Ong Kim Kiat      He fought a good fight.
      He finished the course
      He kept the faith.

Former ACS teacher, Mr Ong Kim Kiat, passed away peacefully on 18 September 2012. He was 86.

Affectionately known as OKK to his students, Mr Ong taught in ACS for 30 years. He obtained his BA (Hons) from London University through sheer diligence as an external student and co-wrote the “Certificate in English” series of textbooks. Besides teaching, OKK served ACS beyond the classroom as Economics competition coach, Shaw Library chief, tennis and volleyball master and Boys Brigade Band Officer. Under his watch, four BB bands grew at ACS, ACS (Junior) and ACS (Primary).

Mr Ong touched the lives of many students under his charge with his steadfastness, dedication and exemplary conduct. I remember him well as a firm, caring and inspirational teacher. Till today, I still whistle our band tunes and picture Mr Ong conducting with gusto.

Rest well, Mr Ong. We shall meet again on the beautiful shore.
