Methodist Schools Staff Get-together 2012 |

The Methodist Schools’ Staff Get-Together 2012 was held on 24 August at ACS (Junior) this year. About 650 members of the teaching and non-teaching staff from the 16 Methodist Schools streamed into the school grounds at the Winstedt Campus for a tea reception before the start of the service at 4pm. At the buffet stations in the canteen and multi-purpose hall, staff of the Methodist Schools rekindled old ties with one another, made new friends and networked amongst themselves in a relaxed atmosphere.
At the Thanksgiving Service, the presentations by the ACS (Junior) String Ensemble and the ACS (Junior) Choir Ensemble captivated the audience and prepared hearts to worship and listen to God’s Word.
Bishop Dr Robert Solomon, the Guest-of-Honour, gave an uplifting sermon on the theme “Steadfast Shepherding”. The Scripture verse chosen was taken from Acts 20:28a “Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers.” Bishop’s exhortation on being Steadfast Shepherds as he shared from Acts 20:17-31 was an apt and timely reminder for staff to be true to our calling and mission to serve for the glory of God.
A total of 53 awards were given out that day - awards to honour staff and board members who have given their steadfast service to the Methodist Schools; long service awards and awards to retirees and outgoing board members. At the end of the award presentations, representatives from the various Methodist Schools went on stage to lead the congregation in reciting the Teacher’s Pledge. The familiar hymn of unity ‘One Voice’ was then sung at the close of the service, followed by the Bishop’s benediction.
ACS (Junior) is grateful for the opportunity to host The Methodist Schools’ Staff Get-Together this year. As we immersed in the atmosphere of hope, unity and service at this Get-Together, we are thankful for God’s faithfulness and goodness.
