ACS Class of 81's 30th Anniversary

Class of 81 - Group photo AThe Big "Three-Oh"!

For many of us, Anglo-Chinese Secondary School 1978 – 81 not only served some of the happiest times of our lives…it also shaped us into the persons we are today. As we grow older, we tend to miss those foundation days even more and feel the need to re-connect with our past…no matter where we have been or where we are now.

Nobody went through those days alone. There might have been someone who was there for Class of 81 - Group photo Ayou…who had a kind word…someone who offered encouragement and confidence…someone who had been a friend…almost a brother. Tonight, we are not alone

The committee has worked relentlessly, through countless meetings, mostly with a happy camaraderie, and at times, grief … to the point of giving up. But in the end, it was worth it to see our efforts take shape, and our brotherhood go from strength to strength. Today, we are proud to announce that we are 180-strong!

Class of 81 - Group photo AIt was quite the turnout. Everyone gathered here is an outstanding product of an ACS education system. With maturity and responsibility, like fine wine, we improve…. At every turn, there’s a familiar face, a misplaced memory, a renewed friendship, a forgotten foe, a prefect, a monitor, a teacher, a disciplinary master, and always, the girl in the red dress… All ACSians forever linked by our identity and ties to our Alma Mater.

It was a night where we came together to toast our past and celebrate our diversity. Eating, drinking, making merry… and even as we lack the Chaptehdexterity of youth, giving an old favorite, the Chapteh, a good work-out.

In a somber moment, we recalled and paid tribute to our lost boys. We reflected on the times we have spent apart, and promised to stay in touch and treasure every moment we have together. The late Mr Earnest Lau always exhorted to us that “The Best is Yet to Be”. From what we have seen tonight, the best has never been better.

As the evening wore on, we were transported back to a time when we were boys…standing there…16 again…remembering every lyric and singing Our Song with the gusto, pride and spirit of a true ACSian…”Our hearts our hopes our aims are one… No discord e'er will sever. We'll stand together for the cause of A.C.S. forever....
