Sarang Gathering Kicks-off 2011!

The ACS OBA organised a Lunar New Year gathering on 20 January to usher in 2011 at the terrace of Sarang at Orchard Central. Well-attended by more than 70 Old Boys and Old Girls from cohorts ranging between 1956 and 2010, the evening was capped with a lucky draw sponsored by Citigold, which included Citigold’s Private Client Golf Collection, Private Client Watch Winder and Private Client Wine Collection.

As luck would have it, the top prize went to the youngest Old Boy present - Seth Yeak (ACJC Year of 2010). Seth was delighted that his first OBA event attendance turned out to be fruitful in more ways than one. According to him, “Besides the top lucky draw prize, the event was a chance for me to interact with my seniors. It was nice to know that age difference did not matter, and I did not feel out of place in this big network of ACSians. I will most certainly attend such future networking events.”

Alex Chow, ACS (Independent) Year of 1996, another first timer to OBA events, shared with us that he would also definitely attend such future OBA events. He said: “In addition to catching up with old friends from ACS whom I have not met for 14 years, the bonus was the opportunity to network with other ACSians for business and career purposes”.

Echoing Alex’s comments, Yeo Ying Hao (ACS Class of 2008) who was present at the previous gathering at Ion Orchard last October added, “And there was good food, good drinks and great company! I’ve also had the opportunity meet some interesting people and made new friends.”

Lim Chin Lock (ACS Class of 56), the oldest Old Boy present confessed that he was a little apprehensive as he has never attended an ACS OBA event before since leaving school more than half a century ago. “But surprise, surprise, what an enjoyable evening it turned out to be! I met old friends and made new ones. We ate, we drank and we were merry. The strong ties that bind us ACSians together were omnipresent. Thank you ACS OBA, and thank you William Whey (former ACS OBA Management Committee member and owner of Sarang) for hosting and subsidising the event”, Chin Lock added.
