Pre-U Class of 1957-58

Fifty Years After!

Over thirty old boys and girls of the Pre-U Year ’57/58 together with their spouses gathered at the Keppel Club on 3 April for a class reunion. To some this was the first time that they were meeting their school mates since leaving school and naturally there was a lot of reminiscing and catching up to do.

Though small in number, they were not short in enthusiasm. They came from America, Australia, Canada, New Zealand and The United Kingdom.

The evening started with the singing of the ACS anthem and after that there was non-stop fun and entertainment which was provided by representatives from the various countries.

  • The Australian team comprising Jason Han, Henry Pang and Reena Cheng performed an Australian ballad.

  • Lee Boon Siong who became a Buddhist and is actively involved with the rebuilding of the Buddhist Temple of Thanksgiving, spoke about his national service experience.

  • Lim Chin Lock did a skit on teacher Yap Ah Chuan.

  • Khoo Chong Yew presented a scientific programme Ophthalmology.

  • George Teo took us down memory lane with an impeccable rendition of “For You” and “Love You With All My Heart”.

  • Yeo Chee Hee spoke about his life as a farmer in New Zealand. Some of the spouses even got in on the act and spoke about the first impressions they had of their partners.

Mr Lim Choon Mong was the only teacher present that evening and he spoke about how proud he was to see all of us succeeding in life and that as our teacher he could not have asked for anything more.

At the end of the day, a good time was had by all and everyone agreed that we should hold this sort of gathering more regularly and thanked Jason Han for having done a wonderful job in organising this event.
