ACS OBA Annual General Meeting

Dr Ang Peng Tiam addressing the meetingAn eventful year for the ACS OBA

"The ACS Spirit is very much alive among the ACS schools" - Dr Ang Peng Tiam

The preceding year has been an eventful one for the ACS OBA, as Dr Ang Peng Tiam (President) recounted at this year’s ACS OBA AGM on 30 March. Besides highlighting the various class reunions, and in particular that organised by the ACS (Alumni) UK, Dr Ang touched on the ACS Spirit and the ONE ACS initiative which the OBA would like to see encouraged among the various units of the ACS family; he also paid tribute to our retired teachers and staff and to the late Tan Sri Tan Chin Tuan who had been great supporter of ACS.

Members at the meeting were delighted to learn, through the interesting and insightful reports from the principals and representatives of the 6 ACS schools and STB-ACS (International) Jakarta, that the ACS Spirit is very much alive among the schools. They also shared their thoughts on how ACS can be brought to greater heights. In the lively exchange of ideas, someone even suggested the change of the OBA to Old Boys’ & Girls’ Association to refl ect the changing face of our constituents!

ACS Class of 56 Golf Challenge

16 participants from the ACS Class of 56 braved the unpredictable weather to take on the challenge for the annual Golf Championship Challenge Trophy on 23 February.

After over 4 hours of ordeal and repeated recounts, Sum Yee Onn emerged the winner and John Chen a close runner-up.

A delicious lunch, a few glasses of beer and an hour-long yarn brought the tournament to a truly memorable conclusion. The success of the function speaks volumes for a group that left the Alma Mater 50 years ago. This is the spirit of ACS!
