ACS FOUNDER'S DAY CELEBRATIONS

ACS (International)

Strenthen the Cords that Binds - Dr Ang Peng Tiam's Message to the Family of ACS Schools

ACS (International) celebrated Founder’s Day with style and creativity. Besides the usual worship and speeches, there were entertaining performances by the students. And to give meaning to the celebrations, Rachel Lim and Ameer Jumabhoy gave testimony to their time in ACS International.

In his message, the Guest-of-Honour, Dr. Ang Peng Tiam, President of the ACS OBA, reiterated the OBAs’ desire for the enlarged family of six schools to remain in spirit as ONE SCHOOL. He hopes to see cooperation amongst the schools in every aspect to strengthen the cords that binds the schools together at every level.

A presentation entitled “ACS: Our Glorious Tradition” was put up by students, encompassing drama, song and dance in a unique ACSian way. The effort that the students had put into the performance was evident in the flawless manner in which dance, drama and song were blended together in a myriad of colours, special items and skits to present what the founding fathers of ACS had done. The special performance certainly captured the attention of students and teachers alike, with the student body rising to their feet and clapping and singing along with those on stage at one point in the performance!

The celebrations was made more meaningful by the presentation of a cheque for $46,000 to the Chinese Annual Conference of the Methodist Church of Singapore for their involvement in the reconstruction work for the tsunami and earthquake victims on Nias Island, West Sumatra, Indonesia. The amount raised during the ACSBR 2005 Carnival will be used to support the education of 130 children for two years.
