Another Milestone in ACS History!

STB-ACS (International) Jakarta, the latest and seventh in the ACS family of schools started as Sekolah Tiara Bangsa (STB) in 1996 to provide premium education with an ‘international’ outlook. Highly qualified expatriate teachers were hired and students were encouraged to explore, inquire and express themselves, which is not unlike the ACS brand of holistic education.

STB became the first school in Indonesia to offer the International Baccalaureate Organisation’s Primary Years Programme and later, the Middle Years Programme. In 2002, it entered into a partnership with the ACS family and after four years of fruitful collaboration, the school accepted the formal invitation to become the first overseas unit of ACS. This coincided with STB’s move from the old site in Cibubur to Cilangkap.

Facilities second to none
The new S$20 million STB-ACS (International) Jakarta) campus was custom built with the ACS brand of education in mind. Its facilities are world class and designed specifically for the needs of children in the 21st century. The modern air-conditioned and spacious building houses specialist and general learning areas, including over 30 general classrooms, a media resource library, computer and science laboratories, design technology workshops, music rooms, and a state-of-the-art performing arts theatre.

The 5.5 hectare campus is also home to seven tennis courts (of which four are under cover and lit for play at night), a European-sized football fi eld and two other smaller pitches, a futsal court and two basketball courts; work has begun on a swimming pool and a running track is on the drawing board.

Holistic Education for all
As STB-ACS (International) Jakarta moves forward into a new era, the school continues to be Indonesian at heart, but with an international outlook. Its comprehensive range of programmes caters for children from as young as 2 years old right up to 17 year olds.

Students from kindergarten upwards are exposed to a curriculum gathered from the best systems in the world, comprising parts from the British, American, Australian and Singapore systems to ensure both breadth and depth. To prepare students for entry into the world’s leading tertiary institutions, grade 10 students will sit for the Cambridge-based International General Certificate of Secondary Education) (IGCSE) examinations, grade 11s for the Cambridge A Level examinations. Future batches of students will sit for the International Baccalaureate Diploma.
