Class of 67/69's
35th Reunion Dinner

The Class of 67/69 met on 06 November 2004 at The Pines Club to celebrate its 35th Anniversary. The event, which is pegged at the A level year and is unique amongst ACS reunion dinners, was well attended by about 130 guests comprising over 100 cohorts, spouses and 17 teachers.

During cocktails, the room was buzzing with excitement as everyone took the opportunity to catch up with one another and to meet up with our teachers. When they event-ually settled down for dinner, Cyrus, the chairman of the organizing committee, started the proceedings by thanking members of the organizing committee for their work, and those who made the effort to fly back from Canada, the USA, Australia and Thailand for the dinner. Guests were then treated to a 20-minute multi-media presentation containing memorable events in the 67-69 years, which included the first moon landing, the British pull out, the introduction of national service, and the first heart transplant.

After the singing of the ACS school anthem and grace said by Mr Earnest Lau, we feasted on a delicious buffet dinner. A mouthwatering spread of sushi, roast sirloin steak, Penang laksa, chicken and vegetables awaited the hungry school mates and it seemed like the school tuck shop rush all over again, albeit in an orderly fashion.

All teachers received a small
token of appreciation for their commitment & love for us.

The highlight of the evening was a tribute and toast to our teachers led by toastmaster Rabi. Responding on behalf of the teachers, Mr Lee Hah Ing said that he likes to remember us as boys and girls of the HSC class of 1969 because we continued to be enthusiastic about the reunion dinners and sang the school anthem with great gusto.   Specially prepared souvenirs were then presented to the teachers as a small token of appreciation for their hard work and tolerance for us "juvenile delinquents" when we were in school.

Entertainment for the evening was our own version of “ACS Idol” complete with judges Mr Wan, Elsie and Fu Hua.  The contestants put up a great show as they gamely sang and danced.  Coming up tops was Mah Choon Hong, who was unanimously declared the “ACS Idol”.

The evening ended with a group photograph session and everyone went home with a door gift and a 20-page souvenir magazine beautifully put together by the editorial team.  The programme highlights will be compiled into a CD to capture the memories for the evening forever.  Till the 40th reunion dinner in 2009, “The Best Is Yet To Be”!
