ACS OBA President's Message

Celebrating the ACS Spirit:

A season of reflection & renewal

Lim TatI am humbled to have been elected President of the OBA.

My journey as an ACSian started in 1970 at Anglo-Chinese Primary School (Coleman Street). After four years at Anglo-Chinese Secondary School (Barker Road), I completed my ACS education at Anglo-Chinese Junior College in 1981. Like many ACSians, completing my ACS education is a precursor to a lifetime commitment to ACS. Those of us who were privileged to have received an ACS education owe it to future generations of ACSians, to continue supporting, contributing and giving to our alma mater and ensuring that the ACS spirit remains forevermore.

The OBA is the embodiment of the ACS spirit, in all of its 102 years of existence. It is timely for the OBA to take stock, recalibrate and chart new destinations with bold aspirations. My committee members and I will enter into a season of reflection, to search and ascertain how OBA can become more vibrant, useful and relevant to our members, alumni and stakeholders. We will reach out to as many ACSians and members of the ACS community as possible: to speak, discuss and gather your thoughts, feedback and input.

If you are an ACSian, please join us to shape OBA’s future direction. Opportunities to volunteer, serve and participate will be published on OBA’s website, and my committee members and I look forward to working with everyone who is committed to bringing fresh energy, time and resources to making our OBA one that is worthy of our school’s motto.

Our campaign to revitalize the OBA will be fraught with challenges. Then again, it has been said that “nothing in the world is worth having or worth doing unless it means effort, pain, difficulty”1. So, as the OBA “closes one chapter, the pen is gradually inking up, preparing itself to write the next”2.

Would you join us3 in writing the next chapter of the OBA?
