A Tribute to Mr Chee Keng Lim -
faithful son of ACS

Mr Chee Keng Lim

Mr Chee Keng Lim, the founding Principal of ACJC, passed away on 30 May 2015. He was 95.

A true blue ACSian, Mr Chee had his education in Anglo-Chinese Primary School at Canning Rise (1927-1932) and Anglo-Chinese School at Cairnhill (1933-1936). He returned as a teacher in 1941 and served the school faithfully until 1985. During his tenure with the school, he held key positions as Group Scout Master, Senior Assistant (1961-1969), Principal of Anglo-Chinese Secondary School (1970-1976) and Founding Principal of ACJC (1977-1985).

According to former ACS teacher Mrs Lee Gek Kim who remembers Mr Chee for his tireless efforts and dedication to the cause of ACS, “Mr Chee epitomised the ACS family”.

Among many recollections I have of Mr Chee, one significant memory is of the way he delivered his addresses to the school or at school functions. Like many dynamic ACSian speakers, he restricted each address to about three points but he invariably peppered his speeches with an amusing or witty anecdote. So, personally, I always listened to him with anticipation for his witty illustrations.” Mrs Lee added.

May you rest in peace, Mr Chee Keng Lim, faithful son of ACS.
